Travelling with an E Cigarette
If you’re an e-cigarette user, traveling presents some challenges, especially if it’s for an extended period of time. We would like to share with you some of the most important things to remember when travelling with your E-Cigarette.
E-Cigarettes are pretty hard to come by in some countries and the quality of those that are for sale abroad are usually not very good, so being prepared is vital. You should assume that during your entire trip you won’t be able purchase any of your hardware or refills. As long as you keep that in mind when preparing and packing for your trip, you should make it through without any hassle.
Mainly, you just want to make sure to bring backups, and a bit more than you expect you will need.
We have created a small list of supplies for a three week stint away from home:
3 X 30ml bottles E Liquid: I go through only about 1 bottle a month, but wanted to bring a few flavors. Make sure to put these inside a ziplock plastic cart in the unlikely event there’s a leak.
3 X USB Chargers: It is very important to have a back up charger. Electronic devices can fail unexpectedly and you want to make sure you have the ability to charge your batteries even if 1 charger stops working.
4 X Batteries: Make sure you have enough batteries to get you through the trip. I always bring 2 batteries more than I will realistically need, jut to be on the safe side.
Between 5 and 10 Cartomizers or Clearomizers: Generally speaking, 1 of these units will last me between 3 and 6 weeks, but some fail earlier and there is always the possibility of losing one or two. It doesn’t matter if you end up not needing to use them on your trip, they will definitely be of some use to you when you get back home.
Adjust liquid and cartomizer/clearomizer amount based on how long you’ll be away and knowledge of your own usage.
I prefer to carry 2 Batteries and 2 Atomizers or Clearomizers and one bottle of e Liquid during the day. I also bring one spare charger in my carry on. Excluding that, all this fits neatly into a small box and into my luggage.
Airports never presented any issues for me and I always went through security without any problems. I don’t use my E-Cigarette too much when I’m on the plane though, and when I do, I use it discretely. Best advice would be to take small drags and hold it in for as long as you can. This will reduce the amount of vapour you will exhale. I then slowly release whatever vapour is left into my sleeve. Try to avoid exhaling big plumes of vapour into the cabin. Some people are nervous flyers, and plumes of what may appear to them as smoke in the cabin could cause an unintended panic, and the flight having to be re-routed back to Dublin, resulting in everyone’s holiday being curtailed and possibly ruined. Happy Travels!!
