If you’ve been looking for some additional e-cigarette liquid (also known as juice, or e-juice) you might have run across some terms that may not be familiar to you. Let us give you a bit of an overview so you have a better understanding of what you’re buying. The more you know the easier it will be for you to find the right liquid for you.
Liquids come in 3 basic varieties: PG (Propylene Glycol), VG (Vegetable Glycerin) or some mixture of both. These are your main vapour producers to which nicotine and flavorings are added.
PG (Propylene Glycol) liquid is normally thinner, and gives a better throat hit (the feeling of taking a drag from a tobacco burning cigarette and inhaling). The downside is it will produce less vapor in each puff. Most liquid is PG based. There have been some people who have reported allergies to PG based liquid which manifests itself as an irritated throat and as such prefer to use the VG (Vegetable Glycerin) base liquid instead, but chances are you’re not one of those people.
VG (Vegetable Glycerin) liquid is more viscous (thicker) and it’s main advantage over PG is it tends to provide a more significant amount of vapour.
Combination PG and VG usually come in 70%PG/30%VG or sometimes 80VG/20PG. In our opinion the more balanced the mix, the more enjoyable the user experience. Something like a 70PG/30VG or 50VG/50PG are the preferred choices for most users.
About Nicotine
There’s not much to know about the nicotine in E-Cigarettes – it’s all pharmaceutical grade and the only choice to make here is how strong you would like it. As a broad guide line:
- Heavy smokers would likely go 24mg or 18mg of nicotine per milliliter
- Regular smokers should be happy with between 12-18mg
- Light or Casual smokers should be satisfied with 0-12mg.
About the Flavouring
Flavour makes up the rest of the liquid and it’s very much dependent on your preferences. For those starting out, we suggest trying Tobacco or Menthol flavour.
You should know that after years of smoking your taste buds will not be as effective as they should be and certain liquids may taste good at first. Once your sense of taste returns that may change. There are many options and trying as many different flavours as you can is the only way to find your perfect match.
VERY IMPORTANT!
1) ALWAYS KEEP YOUR LIQUID OUT OF CHILDREN’S SIGHT AND REACH. THE SAME ADVICE IS APPLICABLE IF YOU HAVE ANY PETS AROUND. CONCENTRATED NICOTINE CAN BE FATAL IF INGESTED BY ANYONE OR ANY ANIMAL.
2) ALWAYS SHAKE YOUR LIQUID BEFORE USING. The Liquid may layer to some extent even if it’s not visible to the naked eye. You might get inconsistent flavor / nicotine / throat hit if you don’t shake those bottles before use.
